This was the second year I saw Phil Brown (aka Uncle Owen from Star Wars) at the San Diego Comic Con. He and his wife make a day out of sitting behind a table in the autograph area, and he is there from the moment he is supposed to arrive until the moment he is supposed to leave, delighted that people still remember him as Uncle Owen and various other characters he has played over the years.
Comic Con attracts two types of actors. Currently working, and retired. Phil Brown has a credit as recent as 1999 on his IMDB listing, and yet I easily put him into the retired category.

As much fun as he has talking with the fans when they came, there is one unmistakable truth...

Albeit it's been a little while since I saw Star Wars last, but I don't recall Uncle Owen being in a wheelchair. Phil Brown and his wife make the effort to come to us, to see the fans and to thank them for remembering his work nearly 25 years later... and I for one would like to thank them for making the effort.
Phil Brown's official website sells autographed photographs, and I suspect there will come a time when he no longer comes to Conventions and that is the only place -- so for those of you who aren't sure you will get the chance to see him, I definitely encourage you to swing by his official site. For anywhere between $20 and $35 you could have a nice keepsake from this kind man.
