Wil Wheaton's New Website
What he has to say:
(LOS ANGELES, CA)- Today, amidst almost no fanfare, TV's Wil Wheaton launched his web site: WIL WHEATON DOT NET. The former child star and failed Alligator wrestler had built the site himself, much to the chagrin of his wife and step-children.
"Don't talk to me about that [expletive] web site," Wheaton's wife, Anne said earlier today.
"All he does is sit at that stupid computer," Wheaton's step-son Ryan said. Step-son Nolan could not be reached for comment.
Reached at his sprawling Los Angeles Estate, Wheaton pushed aside a super model, and told reporters: "Get the hell out of my house before I release the hounds!"
Wheaton, 29, is best known for his portrayal of disgraced baseball great Pete Rose in "Bookie!", for which he won a Tony. He also starred in a few movies and TV shows, but nobody ever heard of any of them.
What we have to say:
To say the very least, masses of fans can be less than kind -- and in the end, whether it is the writing that isn't great, the directing, the lighting, or any of a dozen other details, it is an actor who puts his name and his face on any given project -- and takes the credit and gets the blame when things turn out less than stellar.
Sam Raimi, at a press conference for the upcoming Spider Man movie, made a remark about how spidey was too hard to relate too when he was this ultra genius who could devise a product 3-m had been trying to make for years and couldn't. Smart guys we can relate to -- but too smart to be real? We can't. That was the fate of Wesley Crusher, and his portrayer Wil Wheaton has endured despite the fact it took a team of professional writers to earn that reputation for his character. Perhaps if Sam Raimi had been on board that team Wesley's intellect would have been a little more down to earth -- and the character and the actor would have faired better with the fans.
But Wil Wheaton deserves a lot of credit for sticking it out -- for moving forward with the understanding that you can't please all of the fans all of the time... and for continuing to work as an actor. For those who think he faded away into oblivion after Wesley's ill fated journey take a look at http://www.wilwheaton.net and you'll find you couldn't be more wrong!
