BURBANK, Calif. -- October 31, 2002 -- NBC will turn back the clock when cast members of the network’s new nostalgic hit “American Dreams” (Sundays, 8-9 p.m. ET) will serve as celebrity judges as they help select the next generation of dancers to perform on the “American Bandstand” segments of the 1960s-era drama. Auditions will be held at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday, November 16 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Prospective dancers between the ages of 14-25 are encouraged to dress up in period style clothing circa 1964 and come ready to strut their stuff and showcase some of the period’s best dances, the twist, jerk, monkey and mashed potato (to name a few!) for a chance to be chosen to dance on “American Dreams.”

Arrival time for would-be dancers is 9:00 a.m. The dance-off will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. “American Dreams” cast members including Brittany Snow, Will Estes, Vanessa Lengies, Joseph Lawrence, Rachel Boston and others will be on hand to serve as celebrity judges selecting the lucky dancers.

The evocative hit drama series - which was renewed for a full-season’s slate of episodes - is set against the memorable, upbeat sounds of the 1960s. It depicts a more innocent America as seen through the youthful Pryor family of Philadelphia as they brace for cultural turbulence ahead that still resonates today.

Fifteen-year-old Meg Pryor (Brittany Snow, “Guiding Light”) strains against her “good girl” image and yearns to embrace the mores of her more experienced teenaged friend, Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies, “Popular Mechanics for Kids”) as they achieve their goal of becoming dancers on Dick Clark’s locally produced “American Bandstand.”

The series also stars Tom Verica, Gail O’Grady, Sarah Ramos, Ethan Dampf, Jonathan Adams, Arlen Escarpeta and Virginia Madsen.
