I'll never be the girl I used to be...
Allie Bennett - Sarah Carter

WB newcomer Sarah Carter may not have a trust fund in real life, but when it comes to acting like a princess from the right side of the tracks in Black Sash, Carter hits her mark splendidly. In her first big acting gig, Carter, a dedicated dancer who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has no qualms about stepping into the role of a martial arts student. This leggy blonde has traveled the world, and admits she's been training for a moment like this since she starred as Dorothy in a school production of The Wizard of Oz. "Doing this show is the chance of a lifetime, " says Carter. "I'm not about to let it pass me by."

My character is: "A little confused. She comes from this very wealthy and very dysfunctional family. Her mother is raising her and doing a pretty bad job of it. Allie's had to raise herself. Now she's at a new high school and she feels very out of it. She doesn't really relate to people her age because of her background.

Girls will get a kick out of Allie because: "My character is attracted to trouble. She's a good girl who loves bad situations and bad boys."

So why martial arts?: "Allie has this huge crush on this guy and she finds out he's taking this martial arts class so she signs up too. She thinks she can catch his eye. She's totally hot for him but she comes on too strong. Who can't relate to doing that?"

My secret weapon is: "My flexibility. Because of my dance background, I can get away with the flashy stuff like kicks and spins."

Thanks to Black Sash, I'll never be the girl I used to be: "Being trained in martial arts has paid off. I have a sense of confidence when I walk down the street late at night. It's not that I think I can take someone out but I know now that I am strong enough to put up a fight. I can defend myself."
