What I Say:

I am not a Buffy or Angel fan -- there's no real reason for it, I just don't watch the shows, though I am assured they have the same fun sense of humor that Firefly has.  That said I wasn't prepared to enjoy Firefly week after week, and yet here I am, a regular viewer, week after week.

Firefly has not been picked up for the entire season yet, which I think may be a mistake on the part of Fox.  This is one heck of a show!

Over at TVGuide.com Joss Whedon remarked about tonight's show in an interview: "It has a number of flashbacks to how the crew got together," he continues, "so it's a really good way to learn how it all began. For somebody meeting the characters for the first time, it's a real insight into who they are."

As a regular viewer I've been wondering how this odd lot came together, and would love to see it all begin.

As to the question of is this reviewer the only one who likes the show... there's already a petition asking Fox to keep the show on the air and give it a chance.  So I'm guessing the show has already gathered together more than a few fans.

What They Say:

Set 400 years in the future, in the wake of a universal civil war, FIREFLY centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship.  The crew members will take any job -- legal or not -- to stay afloat and put bread on their table.  Thrust together by necessity, these disparate men and women are cowboys of the future.  They're seeking adventure and the good life, but facing constant challenges on the new frontier, which test and reveal their true identities.

Using the galaxy as a backdrop to tell very human stories, FIREFLY is about the characters’ unpredictable lives and relationships, as well as their search for meaning in a very uncertain time.
