Published: November 21, 2002

TWO ALL-AMERICAN DREAMERS TEAM UP FOR CHRISTMAS ON NBC AS BRITTANY SNOW (‘AMERICAN DREAMS’) WILL HOST ‘SARAH HUGHES: A LIFE IN BALANCE’ SKATING SPECIAL ON DECEMBER 22 on NBC

Event Showcases Olympic Gold Medal Ice-skating Champion Sarah Hughes
in First Television Special Since Her Inspiring Victory in Salt Lake City

BURBANK, Calif. -- November 21, 2002 -- Brittany Snow, star of NBC’s “American Dreams” (Sundays, 8-9 p.m. ET) will host “Sarah Hughes: A Life in Balance” (Sunday, Dec. 22, 7-8 p.m. ET), NBC’s new special showcasing Olympic Gold Medal ice-skating champion Sarah Hughes in her first television special since she shocked the world last February with her victory in Salt Lake City.

“Sarah Hughes: A Life in Balance” will feature new, exclusive ice-skating performances as well as private family moments as the 17-year-old Hughes tries to balance newfound fame with life as a regular American teen. Vignettes will show Hughes with her Long Island family as she prepares to go off to college and includes a teaser recounting her spectacular victory -- and how her relatives reacted as they watched history being made as she vaulted from fourth to first and claim the gold medal.

The hour-long special is executive-produced by John Faratzis, a six-time Emmy Award-winning producer whose extensive credits include the Salt Lake City (2002), Nagano (1998) and Barcelona (1992) Summer Olympic Games, as well as the three most watched television shows in American History, Super Bowls XXX, XXVIII and XXVII, which he produced.

The teenaged Snow plays teenager Meg Pryor on NBC’s drama series “American Dreams,” a “good girl” in 1960s Philadelphia who breaks away from her father’s strict upbringing to realize her dream of being a dancer on Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand.” A native of Tampa, Florida, Snow began her acting career appearing in and lending her voice to numerous national commercials. She also starred in local theater performances including the national tour of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Snow made the transition to television when she secured a feature role as Harley’s (Beth Ehlers) long-lost daughter, Susan, on the soap opera “Guiding Light.” Snow’s additional television acting credits include “Safe Harbor,” NBC’s underwater sci-fi series “seaQuest DSV” and the pilot “Murphy’s Dozen.”
