WITHOUT A TRACE is a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The sole responsibility of the special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques to peel back the layers of the victims’ lives and trace their whereabouts in an effort to discover whether they have been abducted, been murdered, committed suicide or simply runaway. The team reconstructs a “Day of Disappearance” timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone heads the dedicated team that knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His squad includes Samantha Spade, an agent who doesn’t let her good looks get in the way of being tough; Vivian Johnson, a no-nonsense investigator; Danny Taylor, an intense and private agent; and Martin Fitzgerald, the newest member of the team considered a lightweight by the squad because his only experience involves fighting white-collar crime.

"Between the Cracks" -- Jack Malone and the team try to find a young woman who has disappeared though it seems as if no one in her life was really aware that she was gone, on WITHOUT A TRACE, Thursday, Oct. 17 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

Charles S. Dutton ("For Love or Money: The Arturo Sandoval Story," "The Piano Lesson") guest stars.

Eve's roommate, Tracy, reports her missing though she's not really sure how long Eve has been gone. As the team tries to establish a timeline on the girl, it seems that no one in her life really cared very much about her. The incoming messages on Eve's cell phone lead to a church soup kitchen where she was once a regular volunteer. But when they show her picture to another volunteer, he recognizes her but claims her name is Becky, further complicating the chances of ever finding her.

Charles S. Dutton plays Chet Collins, a man whose son has been missing for 5 years who still holds out hope that Jack will be able to find him.
