Zap2It reports good news for Presidio Med:

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Despite mediocre ratings, "Presidio Med" will stick around on CBS this season.

With sweeps ending next week, the show will go on hiatus through the end of the year. But the network has ordered nine more episodes and will re-launch it in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It may also get a new timeslot, although CBS doesn't have too much empty space in its schedule. "Presidio," and its ABC counterpart, "MDs," have both struggled at 10 p.m. Wednesdays against NBC's perennial hit "Law & Order."

"Presidio Med" is averaging about 7.3 million viewers a week for the season. It's averaging a 2.6 rating in the advertiser-friendly adults 18-49 demographic.

Neither of those numbers is that great, but CBS executives like the show, an ensemble drama set at a San Francisco medical practice. Dana Delany, Blythe Danner and Sasha Alexander head the mostly female cast.

The decision to order more episodes of "Presidio" means that "Robbery Homicide Division" is the only freshman CBS show whose fate hasn't been decided.

CBS Shuffles It's Schedule!

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - CBS is jiggering its schedule in a bid to boost a pair of struggling dramas.

While CBS has pulled this week's episode of "Robbery Homicide Division" in favor of a "CSI" repeat, the network is giving the critically praised but low-rated crime drama a chance to find an audience in a new time slot. The show will air Saturdays at 10 on Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 as executives look to gauge whether the show fares better when not opposite Friday juggernaut "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

In addition, sophomore spy drama "The Agency," which has shown some Nielsen softness on Saturdays, will get a one-week tryout in "Robbery's" usual 10 p.m. Friday slot on Dec. 6. The goal is to give both shows added exposure in different timeslots.

While "The Agency" is picked up for a full season, CBS executives have not decided about "Robbery."

But CBS has ordered additional episodes of "Presidio Med," which has struggled Wednesdays at 10 p.m. but nonetheless remains a fave of network brass. Industry insiders expect the medical drama will get a full-season order.

Last Week They Did It!

I'll tune in again and again if for no other reason than the fact that last week they managed to surprise me! I had no idea where the missing person was, even though I had seen them. It was a well done script -- with massive credit going to the hair and make-up folks for making one young man truly look like two different men.

Stargate Cast Returning

The SCI FI Channel confirmed that Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Don S. Davis will return as regular cast members of the channel's original series Stargate SG-1 in the show's upcoming seventh season. Corin Nemec also returns in the recurring role of Jonas Quinn. Tapping reprises the role of Maj. Samantha Carter, Judge plays Teal'c and Davis returns as Gen. George Hammond.

Earlier, the SCI FI Channel confirmed that Michael Shanks was coming back as a regular cast member, playing Dr. Daniel Jackson and joining series star Richard Dean Anderson as Col. Jack O'Neill. The network earlier this month announced that it had renewed the show for a full 22-episode new season.

Production on the new season is slated to begin in Vancouver, B.C., early next year, for a summer 2003 launch. The remaining original sixth-season episodes will resume on SCI FI on Jan. 10, 2003.
